Michael Denmark

Founder & Executive Chairman

Michael Denmark is Executive Chairman of multi-award-winning entertainment business, The Great Entertainment Group. From its headquarters in Hong Kong, the network creates pioneering experiences that attract and engage millions of people each year.

During his twenty-five years in Asia, Michael has forged relationships with leading producers, commercial partners and brands throughout the region. Drawing on his roots with media start-ups, Michael co-founded Branded in 2002. Music Matters, a  Branded concept, evolved into the All That Matters conference series which Dentsu Aegis Network acquired along with Branded in 2018.

Cementing himself as a trailblazer in entertainment, Michael successfully brought a European carnival to Hong Kong and Singapore in 2014. Now recognised as the AIA Carnival in Hong Kong, the event attracts one million attendees on average each year. Through compelling commercial strategies, robust partnerships and deep knowledge of entertainment, Michael established a highly-acclaimed, annual production and household staple.

In 2017, Michael spearheaded a landmark partnership deal to save a national icon - The Hong Kong Observation Wheel (HKOW). Otherwise destined to be decommissioned, the wheel’s future was secured through a historical sponsorship agreement with insurer, AIA. Michael and his team transformed the HKOW into an iconic destination for community engagement and family fun through accessible ticketing and programming. Today, the venue is a thriving hub of activity and a platform for world-renowned experiences.

Michael believes creativity is central to entertainment. He is passionate about making art accessible to the community and was instrumental in the launch of Art HK (now Art Basel) and the Affordable Art Fair in Hong Kong. He is committed to creating shared value for the community and actively supports charitable, educational and cultural initiatives through the Great Entertainment Group.

With investments in Web 3.0 and evolving digital solutions, Michael maintains a keen interest in technology that will shape consumers’ experiences in future.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Michael has called Hong Kong home since 1996. He is a devoted husband and proud father of two sons.
